London, Milan – 11 June 2013: Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB) and the Malta Tourism Authority today announced that multi-award winning, platinum selling producer and electro-dance DJ Afrojack will be the final performer to complete the line-up at this year’s Isle of MTV, the annual, free outdoor live music spectacular taking place in Floriana’s Il-Fosos Square on 26th June.
The two-time Grammy award-winning producer and DJ will take to the stage to close this year’s show before an anticipated crowd of 50,000 local music fans, following sensational performances from international superstars Jessie J, Rita Ora and dance collective Rudimental.
With a slew of hard-hitting underground releases, including platinum selling dance anthem “Take Over Control”, Afrojack (real name Nick van de Wall) has achieved meteoric international success in recent years. Winning two consecutive Grammy awards in a row, Afrojack took home Best Remix (for Madonna’s “Revolver”) in 2011 and Best Rap / Hip Hop track (for Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now”). He has since collaborated with the likes of David Guetta (co-writing and producing the world-wide smash “Titanium”), Pitbull and Ne-Yo (co-writing and producing “Give Me Everything”), before teaming up with Chris Brown on his most recent hit "As Your Friend."
The Isle of MTV Malta Special, delivered through a successful partnership with Malta Tourism Authority, is now in its seventh year, and has become one of the must-attend highlights of the summer music calendar, attracting fans from all over Europe to party in one of the most entrancing settings in the Mediterranean. The open-air concert will take place in the stunning, sun-kissed Il-Fosos Square in Floriana and a mixture of the live performance and location settings will be filmed and broadcast as a 60-minute special across MTV’s channels and platforms throughout around the world.
